Austin, TX Meetup
Hey, everyone -
This for all the Ohana who live in or around the Austin, TX area.
As you may have caught this past show, Todd has agreed to stop in Austin as part of his "Lone Star" tour (my title, not his!). We have blocked out the noon-ish time-frame on Saturday, April 4th to meet with Todd, but we haven't settled on a venue. Presumably, we will meet at a restaurant that can accommodate as many of us as will be there
There are many different ways we could approach this:
- A restaurant that shows off Texas or Austin-specific cuisine. We'll get a lot of different suggestions here, likely with a lot of repeats - that's fine!
- A restaurant that can accommodate the widest range of dietary preferences. IOW, if we have a bunch of vegans who would like a chance to rub elbows with Todd, maybe The County Line wouldn't be the best choice (no complaints from me, FWIW).
- Cuisine be...ignored, but choosing the best restaurant that has a meeting room and guaranteed WiFi since all of us fellow geeks will likely be discussing not only the show but "all things tech" as our host likes to say.
- A different approach than what I've thought of here.
As for myself, I've been in Austin for 11+ years now, and have spent 5 of those years working downtown (Whole Foods corporate IT department), so I have a feel for spots all over. However, I don't want to dominate the the choice, so please respond if you intend on attending this meet-up.
So, Ohana in Austin - this is your chance to choose the venue! It was my understanding that Todd was going to be somewhere close to the I-35 corridor, so we should probably keep the locale to within a 15 minute drive of I-35. I'll ping Todd as to where he'd prefer, but initially let's focus on that.
Also, I'll be taking a head-count so that I can make reservations before the 4th, so please send me a private message so I can know whether or not to count you in for this.
