Re: *Ion Phonograph to USB

One side of a 45 rpm at a time. One side of a 33 rpm at a time. The software let's you go track-to-track on the 33 rpms. It then imports them into iTunes. The sound quality is good. It is not set a stack and come back later to a finished job. It requires attention through the process. It is well worth the effort.

Good Going! It is too bad that in this world, things like this have be tracked and watched in order for vendors to be kept honest.

Thank You.

If you want a lot of laughs, go see "GET SMART" at the theater. It has a lot of fun.

Wow ! MagicJack

June 14, 2008 by norskvik

Hey, I am not selling these things. I just found this MagicJack the other day. It only cost $39.95. It breaksdown to be $19.95 per year, that right $19.95 per year for Long distance telephone service, incoming and outgoing. In the $39.95 you also purchase the little box. It has an USB jack on one end and a RJ14 telephone jack. That right a POTS (plane old telephone service) telephone will work.

I got two units. They work great! I got one of the telephone numbers in Beverly Hills, and the other one in Malibu, California. It plugs into your laptop and can go with you when you travel too.

The url: http://www.MagicJack.com You can not beat the Long Distance price. it works 24/7/365. It also works Internationally, it is free from MagicJack to MagicJack and 2 cent per minute to other numbers outside the USA.

No, I do not gain anything if you buy one.

I recommend checking it out. If nothing else, it makes a great gift.

What operating system are you using? Does come up in Windows? if not, do you have the Windows serial number of your old system?

*Ion Phonograph to USB

June 1, 2008 by norskvik

Just purchased a *Ion Phonograph to USB. It comes with Software. It is great!!! It let's you convert all your old vinyl records to Digital. It will even import it into iTunes for you seamlessly. It is a no hassle solution to extending the life of your music for lots of years. I converted a lot of old 45 rpm's from my dad's record company. The masters are gone. So they live on in the digital world. You can also record 78 rpm records. The way they do it, is that you record it at 45 rpm and the software pushes it up to the 78 rpm speed electronically. All this for about one hundred dollars.

I thought the quality was going to suck! What a surprise when I found it quite good. Surprise, surprise.

I look out a Window and Windows everyday at my home. I must be diminishing Microsoft's brand. Some common used words in the English language can not be controlled by a person or company, unless you happened to get a Trademark on it. Have you ever Xerox something or photocopied it. I know, they have a Trademark on Xerox. Look what happened to Federal Express. So many people were calling it FedEx, they actually change their company name to FedEx.

Hey, if people are going to say Twit, it would be better to put the words "you little" before it. LOL LOL. Just kidding.

I wish Microsoft would Expel Vista. Now that would be a good use of a Toddism.

Integrity is a thing you either have or do not have. You have shown total integrity. I would let that comment from a listener roll off your back and charge on. If you did not have integrity, you would know it. You have Integrity.

Todd

On Thursday 05-15-2008 show. You mentioned comments about POTS = "Plain Old Telephone Service" with add-ons. I opine, that nothing has surpassed POTS for quality, dependability and its ability to still work when there is a power outage.

I believe that two cans and a string is better than both VOIP = Voice over IP and Cellphones. Both of these system suffer. Voip suffers from Chop, Jitter, and Dropouts, depending on the internet and how busy it is at the time. Cellphones used to be great. You could hear a pin drop at the other end. That is until they took bandwidth for text messaging and web browsing. They left just enough bandwidth for voice to get by. Ever notice how background noise on a cellphone sounds like white noise. There is not enough bandwidth to send the real definition of the noise. Cellphones are also subject to dropout.

These are my thoughts on the subject for 39 years of Telecommunications so far. Enjoy!!

Re: Windows Vista Resistors

I wonder what Microsoft knows? They are talking about a new OS which they are calling "Windows Seven." I am thinking, is "Vista" another "Me" like in the past?

Windows Vista Resistors

May 15, 2008 by norskvik

SO, I got this Toshiba laptop recently with a Pentium dual core processors and 2 GB memory. I found out, real soon, that it was a glorified email machine.

It would not run any of the software that I was using, except for one program. I was not happy. I had read on many Blog that others had the same feelings.

After a lot of looking around over a period time, I finally found a zip files with all the needed drivers needed to abandon Windows Vista and retro back to Windows XP Professional. The retro move when without any problems.

Wow! now I have a screamer of a computer and it runs all of the programs I use. I recommend this solution to everyone, I opine, that has run into this same wall called Vista.

The Toshiba laptop is a Satellite A135-S4527. I love Windows XP Professional, although I can be tempted with an Apple MacIntosh.

I always get the Podcast the next day on iTunes, then download them unto my iPod. It works great and they can be listened to when the time is right in the day. By the way, I have listened to many tech shows and I like yours the best. It is well rounded and good. By the way, the Endeavor launch was cool. Glad that you got that recorded.

I am thinking that if you live near the Palle on Oahu, all you need are a couple of wind generators. As you know, there is always a wind blowing through there.

Re: Security Systems

May 15, 2008 by norskvik

Todd, I have many clients in the Beverly Hills, Bel Aire area in the past. The best system is the silent alarm to the Monitoring station, getting there via landline and Cellphone. A service that will show up within minutes and who carry weapons. This is what the Bel Aire Patrol does in Southern California. They are fast. We have tested them at several installations.

If they call first and there is no answer, it is all on. If you answer and give them one of two words; one for false alarm the other for come quickly. They both will work the way they are supposed to.

The sensing systems can go as far as you want, even as also adding screen cutting technology too. Sammy Davis Jr. in Beverly Hills also had that technology as well as a meriad of others. He also had an Armed guard on the property.

I started listening to GeekNewsCentral about 30 days ago. I like the format. Hawaii is a good base for any podcast.
